30-40 Dog Treats

Today Buckley and I went to the dog park. Someone had left samples of these dog treats on a table. They were little pellets of beef.

Buckley stole three bags of the sample treats and raced around the park with them, before tearing them apart and noshing on the beefy nugs.

Eventually, another dog caught on - a beautiful Golden Retriever named Max. He tried to take the treats away from Buckley and the dogs got into a crazy altercation of growling and snarling and mean mean words (I would imagine).

It got ugly. What sweet, lovely dogs will do for some treats, am I right???

I found my old Blackberry! It was in my bathroom trashcan. You can almost taste Buckley’s bitter wrath.

Attempt: A Black Squirrel!

Today, Buckley and I went on a walk. Over the course of the walk, he ate:

1 tissue (used)

1 mass of dryer lint

and

1 chicken bone.

YUM!

As we rounded the corner to my block, I didn’t even realize that he saw a squirrel. He lunged at it and chased it around in circles for a few seconds, coming an inch away from catching it by the tail. The squirrel ran for its life (literally) and slammed into a tree. I heard the thud.

So, Buckley, we didn’t get the squirrel this time. But maybe we gave it a concussion.

His Magnum Opus: My Blackberry

Once upon a time, when Buckley and I were younger and more carefree, I got a new phone. My Blackberry was somewhat dysfunctional, but it sent texts, made calls, and got on the internet, so I was pleased.

On a glorious Wednesday night, my friend Lindsay and I went to a nearby bar for White Russian Wednesday. After a few hours out, while Lindsay was making out with a cute boy, I left and headed home. After opening the door to my apartment, I let Buckley out of his crate, flopped onto my bed and passed out.

HUGE MISTAKE.

While I was sleeping off the White Russians, Buckley ate part of my boxspring, the silk lining and pockets of a dress, my bank card, and all the trappings of my Blackberry. The keys, outside casing, back, buttons and all other exterior parts of my phone had been chewed up and swallowed.

I was phoneless for about two weeks.

His Eye Boogers

Salty. Sometimes crunchy. Yum yum yum! Buckley loves these little treats when I take them out of the corner out of his eyes!

Gross, I know. Also, turns out he has an eye infection - so he probs shouldn’t be snacking on his infected mucus.

(The above picture is not my dog, but it kinda looks like him. Cute boogs!)

Anecdote: Plastic Bag and Tissue

Today, I was walking Buckley down New Hampshire Ave toward the dog park. He stopped, as he will, to pick up a plastic baggie. When I told him to drop it, he instead scarfed it down. The men at the bus stop across the street started yelling at me:

“Reach in his mouth! He’s gonna eat it.”

I didn’t reach in. Then, when he swallowed the bag, the men yelled, “I told you so!”

I smiled, kind of embarrassed, and then Buckley picked up a tissue. I once again told him to drop it, and he once again scarfed it down.

One (1) Slim Jim Wrapper

Buckley loves nothing more than picking up trash. Today, on our walk, he picked up three tissues, two paper towels and two plastic baggies. When I told him no, he dropped them. But not so for the Slim Jim wrapper! That he wolfed down before I could pry open his jaw to get it out.

I tried to get a picture of him scarfing down the wrapper. Here’s what I have:

Attempt: Small Pink Hat

Buckley found this child’s hat in my alley. I love the sass of the hat, but also his sass for trying to eat it. He’s such a sassy boy.

I feel gratified that I told him “drop it,” and he did! After a short tug of war.

A Small Ball of Yarn

One time, I was crocheting a toothpaste-colored tie for my friend. Buckley found it, and ate what I had made. In his stomach, it unravelled into one long string - which I then had to pull out of Buckley’s butt later.

The yarn was roughly this color:

But not when he pooped it out.

One (1) Argyle Sock

Buckley got into my closet the other day and took out a sock. He had swallowed it before I could get it out of his mouth. Then, one day, I noticed its remains. Inside my house. That’s right, folks. This sock has been through my dog’s digestive system and now lives in. my. house.
